Lamson ARX 4+ Spey Reel

Got my first look at the New WaterWorks / Lamson ARX Spey reel. Good looking reel sportin a matte black finish. Shows some simularities with the Vanquish in the machine work but no intregated reel foot. A traditional reel foot is used. I like the intregrated spool counter balance. Also uses the X arbor with allows for most of the backing to fill a V shape in the spool which is also found on the Vanquish, Force SL and other X model Reels. The drag system is the proven WaterWorks / Lamson sealed no maintance design. More too come...

 

Arx is a reel built with a purpose; Spey or switch casting a variety of lines with maximum line control and reliability. Arx has a full cage frame that encapsulates the spool to prevent line from escaping or snagging in critical areas. Normally a configuration like this would do a good job at preventing line fouling, but would preclude palming the reel. Arx is carefully milled on the bottom third of the reel to expose a functional palming section. Even the drag knob has been designed to provide optimal grip without exposing a portion of the reel to line fouling.
