Review: Good first attempt by Sage. I like the option to add mass to the reel to balance with different rods. It picks up line fast and the full cage prevents my mono line from getting damaged. Typical quality Sage construction and click sound. It's not perfect however, the included weights have their own storage but its separate from the reel. It would be nice if the reel pouch had a compartment to store the weights or some way to attach the separate pouch. When changing a weight the circular ring that secures them is easy to over tighten and sometimes its very difficult to unscrew. Some of my older Euro Nymph rods have a heavy swig weight and even the largest weight is not enough to balance them. Overall its a good first attempt, it has some flaws but its a good reel for any serious Euro Nymph fisherman.

Review: I have been euro nymphing with a standard fly reel and even with high tolerance reels was tired of the thin euro fly line getting sucked into the guts of the reel. The full frame design nearly eliminates this from ever being an issue again which was my main motivation to buy. The adjustable weight option is great for being able to use this reel with multiple euro rods with some slight adjustments. Nice build quality, probably a bit on the higher side price wise but nothing else really comes close to what this offers for the euro world. 75yd 20lb backing, .022 mono core fly line + the 1/2 ounce weight balances the Contact II 10’9” beautifully.
