Rio Outbound

The Outbound series of lines from Rio are not your average lines. These lines have short heavy heads made for quick shooting cast. Seamlessly connected to the head is a thin diameter, long running line that allows for low resistant through your guides for increased distance. Several configurations of this line are available ranging from Tropical to Coldwater, Fresh to Saltwater and comes in Floating, Intermediate and Sinking Tip lines.

Due to the many configurations much confusion has come our way from those seeking the Outbound that is right for their particular fishing situation. This will be my attempt to bring clarity to this series of high performance lines.
Notice I have numbered the pictures of each Outbound series lines for easier reference.

#1) Outbound Short Coldwater Blue trim on box denotes that this is a saltwater line. The fish appears to be a Sea-Run Trout of some kind, maybe a Sea-Run Cutthroat. Short in the title represents a 30 head length. The given range of temperature of this line is 50-80F (10-27C). Available in 4 densities (Floating, Floating/w15'int tip, Full intermediate and  Int/w type 6 sink tip).
#2) Outbound Coldwater Blue trim on the box denotes a saltwater line. The fish is a Striped Bass. The absence of Short in the title tells us that this is a standard length Outbound which is 37.5'. The given range of temperature of this line is 50-80F (10-27C). Available in 3 densities; Floating, Floating with 38intermediate tip, and intermediate with a 38 type 6 sinking tip. This Outbound has been around for a while and is the go to Striper line for east coast anglers. Its the only one that still carries the longer 37.5 head for the longest of cast. Note; this line could also find uses in freshwater environments as well.
#3) Outbound Coldwater Custom Blue trim on box denotes that this is a saltwater line. The fish on the box is a Striped Bass. This Outbound is the real oddball. Its basically a thin running line attached to a 37 piece of sinking (T-11 or T-14) Line. The idea is to have a sink tip shooting head that would be cut back to your preference of desired length. Create your own customizable shooting head. The given range of temperature of this line is 50-80F (10-27C).
#4) Outbound Short Freshwater Green trim on the box denotes freshwater line. The fish is a Brown Trout and Short in the title represents a 30 head length. The given range of temperature of this line is 50-80F (10-27C). Available in 5 densities. This line in many ways is the same as #1
#5 )Tropical Outbound Short The Obvious one in the bunch. Blue trim for saltwater but keep in mind that this line would be your "go to in places like the Amazon. Forget what kind of water you're fishing and think about the temperature of that water. The fish on the box is a Roosterfish. Short in the title refers to the 30 head. The given range of temperature of this line is 75-100F (24-38C). Available in 3 densities. Beware of the two different intermediate densities. I coded the chart and also put the Rio Item number in the drop down option group for easier identification. Hot Climates and quick cast is what this line is all about.
#6)Outbound Short Coldwater Shooting Head -- New for 2014...Shooting Head Only! These are made for the angler that prefers to use a shooting/running line of choice such as Gripshooter and be able to change out just the head according to the current needs. Blue trim on box denotes that this is a saltwater line. The fish appears to be a Sea-Run Trout of some kind, maybe a Sea-Run Cutthroat. Short in the title represents a 30 head length. The given range of temperature of this line is 50-80F (10-27C). Available in 4 densities.
