We have had a little gap in the MARK IV Trout reel line-up. With the 2 3/4" and 3" models small diameters they work and look great on bamboo rods in the 6 ½ ft to 7 ½ ft lengths. But they do leave a little bit to be desired for our modern 9ft graphite rods. Quite possibly the most popular trout rod is the 9ft 5wt. So we developed the 3 1/4"N (Narrow) model. This is the perfect 3-4-5wt reel for playing a fish on the reel with 60yds of 20# backing and a WF5F line. It looks, feels and balances perfectly for these rods. The narrow model is exactly the same reel as the standard 3 1/4" but 1/8" narrower at the spool. Using the same size gear and pawl preset drag as our standard 3 1/4" model it is just a great all round trout reel weighing in at 6.2oz.
