The Gorge Fly Shop is hiring! Would you like to join our team here in beautiful Hood River, Oregon?

Together, we are a passionate, family style fly shop catering to a world of fly anglers. Our primary goal as a business is to provide the best possible customer service to our patrons, which includes professional knowledge and unwavering empathy. What is needed on our part is to help our customers find the perfect fit to match their fishing needs and do so, in the most effective manor! Sound good?

It certainly helps if you are passionate about fly fishing! That is who we are after all, and passion fuels interest, knowledge and the desire to help others. We would also prefer you to have some sales/customer service experience under your belt, as this is primarily what we do!

We currently have 2 positions available. One year-round/full time and another that would start off as seasonal with the possibility of full time/year-round.

Internet Order/Shipping Specialist (Full Time/Year Round)

This is a super important position at our shop! This person is responsible for a whole host of duties which includes:

-Processing Customer orders

-Tracking customer orders

-Ordering products from our vendors

-Customer phone conversations

-Customer email conversations

-Electronic Shipping and Receiving

We are looking for applicants with great communication skills who are extremely friendly, organized and proficient with basic computer programs and email. Pleasant phone skills certainly go a long way here and the knowledge of, or the willingness to learn about specific fly fishing products is a must. This is a pretty computer-intensive job and one that demands solid time management skills! Attention to detail is crucial and did we mention that it helps to know a thing or two about fly fishing?

Sales Associate (Seasonal: May – October, 3-5 days/week)

This position mostly entails helping customers in the front of the shop, however other duties also include:

-Answering customer phone calls

-Placing customer orders over the phone

-Ordering products from our vendors

-Receiving products into inventory

-Pulling and packaging items for shipment

Applicants for this position should appear professional and possess great communication skills. Furthermore, precise knowledge about fly fishing and the willingness to help others is a must!
