RIO Ambassador Series
The Skagit Timberline was designed with coastal steelhead rivers in mind, but it's equally at home on your favorite local inland rivers. The short head with the appropriate sink tip delivers big flies with amazing ease in tighter spaces. Up against a bank, with trees and no room for a big "D" loop, no problem, this is why the Skagit Timberline was created.
Designed with PNW guide Gray Struznik, the Skagit Timberline is a compact, load-and-go head that turns over heavy tips and larger bugs with minimal stroke, perfect when the river is tight and the flies aren’t.
"Guiding on Washington's Olympic Peninsula is a game of overcoming obstacles. Weather being the obvious one. But focusing on what we can control is why we designed this head. For my style of fishing, it's the perfect mix, a compact Skagit that lends itself to larger grain weights more suitable for heavier rods – without sacrificing feel.” — Gray Struznik, OP Fly Fishing, WA
18-feet of shooting head that brings effortless performance to your coastal steelhead program. The compact design makes shorter two-handed rods sing when casting space is limited. Because of its heavily rear-loaded and progressively tapering design, it easily handles the heaviest T-tips, while still delivering a full range of marabous and modern steelhead flies with controlled loop precision.
