The Premier OutBound Short is RIO’s answer for anglers who want maximum distance with minimal false casting, especially when throwing bulky or weighted flies. The design centers around a short, powerful head and aggressive front taper that loads rods quickly and transfers energy efficiently into the leader so big flies turn over clean and the running line shoots when you hit the power stroke.

Built with a short, aggressive front taper and a powerful head design that loads rods deeply, these lines deliver bulky streamers as far and as fast as possible. A full range of densities make this a very versatile line series for both the freshwater and saltwater angler.

Best of all, the line is built with SlickCast - the slickest, most durable coating on the market.

  1. A Full Floating line (F), for top water action
  2. A Floating Line with 15ft of "hover" Sinking line, then 15ft of clear Intermediate Sinking line at the front (F/H/I), for fishing 2-3 ft deep
  3. A Full Intermediate Sinking line with a 15ft clear tip (I), for fishing 3-5ft deep
  4. An Intermediate sinking line with 17ft of Medium Sinking line, then 13ft of Fast Sinking Line at the front (I/S3/S5), for fishing 4-8ft deep
  5. An Intermediate sinking line with 17ft of Fast Sinking line, then 13ft of Extra Fast Sinking Line at the front (I/S5/S7), for fishing 6-12ft deep

"Switch Rod and Outbound Short"

Review: I must say that I have done a couple of Oregon coast surf fishing trips using my 11' 7wt switch rod and I have been using the Outbound Short in a 9wt with various sinking qualities depending on the situation. The Outbound Short has performed great and loads the rod well not to mention that it has the mass to throw heavier flies such as clouser minnow and what not.
