Review: With companies putting out so many ultralight rods and reels today, it is easy to neglect the importance of reel weight on rod balance and the subsequent the fulcrum point of a rod. It impacts loop formation, rod tracking, casting accuracy, ease of mending, etc. This is not a heavy reel by any means, but is intentionally an ounce or so heavier than many ultra light reels out today. It balances perfectly with my 490-4 Sage Classic R8. Very nice aesthetics, excellent sealed drag system that does not allow the line to spin off of the reel at its lowest setting, nicely machined aluminum (not plastic) drag nob, buttery smooth click, and very easy to disassemble. You won’t be disappointed with this reel. It shipped the same day, with backing and line installed, the same day as my order with a $100 discount on the line. That’s is a deal, and service, that’s hard to beat.

Review: The Sage Trout Reel is a Classic Fly Reel with modern update. The full frame gives added strength and versatility - can use for euro nymphing. Drag is more than adequate. Just a Classic looking reel!

Review: I live in NC and found their site online. I ordered a Sage rod, two reels, fly lines and backing. I inadvertently typed in the wrong weight line and realized it the next day. I called and they graciously put the correct weight line on one of the reels without any hassle or problem. They couldn’t be nicer people. I will buy from them again in the future!!

Review: The Sage Trout 4/5/6 reel is a very smooth, old school reel that features a full frame design and a sealed silky smooth drag system with numbered detents so you always know the settings. This reel has some weight to it however that is a good thing. For me, I was looking to balance my 10' Euro rod and was perfect loaded with a 2wt line plus the bronze color complements the color of my rod as well.

Review: Great price on the reel, free fly line so I upgraded to a RIO Elite line for an extra $30. They shipped it free, promptly and I love the reel and cannot wait to use it this coming season. I will definitely be ordering my new rod from Gorge Fly Shop for sure!
