Review: The 300 gr Rio Elite Scandi Body is a match made in heaven for my Echo Glass Spey 3 wt trout spey. It casts beautifully scandi or skagit, delivering all the flies I like to fish. I don't fish huge intruders or dumbell lead-eyed heavy flies. I use an old scandi body 325 gr on my WInston BIII TH 4 wt rod for southern Erie trib stseelhead and big Wyoming trout and it works great. I haven't replaced it with the new elite scandi body to do a head to head comparison yet. I'm expecting it will be the same, EXCELLENT. For my 3 wt trout spey I use either replacement tips or Sonar polyleaders. It could handle a light MOW or iMOW. For my four weight I use Sonar polyleaders, light MOW and light iMOW tips. Other tips work too. It is a great system as long as you remember that it needs a tip of some kind.
