Description
Imperceptible bites on nymphs count for nothing. And RIO's new ESP Tippet makes it easier than ever to answer the question, "Was that an eat?" Neither nylon nor fluorocarbon, ESP is a one-of-a-kind material. Its distinct chemistry gives rise to distinct properties; namely, low-stretch and extreme sensitivity. ESP tippet stretches one-third as much as fluorocarbon at low tension, making it ideal for targeting light-biting fish with subsurface presentations. When Euro nymphing, ESP transmits even the gentlest pickups directly to the sighter. When indicator nymphing, ESP makes the indicator twitch sooner, resulting in quicker hooksets and more hookups. And in stillwater scenarios, use it for fishing long, fine leaders with hand-twist retrieves that result in rock-solid connections.
Features
- Made from RIO's distinct ESP material for definitive strike detection
- Maximum low-stretch performance
- Available from 7X to 2X
- Ideal for indicator nymphing/Euro nymphing/stillwater presentations
What is ESP Tippet:
- This is not Nylon or Fluorocarbon but has distinct properties that gives it a low stretch stiffness and is Extremely sensitive.
- ESP Tippet has 1/3 as much stretch as fluorocarbon at low tension for light biting fish. See chart below.
Who is it for?
- Euro Nymphers: it transmits even the gentlest pickups
- Stillwater Anglers: for fishing long, fine leaders with hand twist retrieves for rock solid connections
- Indicator Nymphers: ESP makes the indicator twitch sooner resulting in more hookups
Does it sink?
- ESP has a sink rate between Nylon and Fluoro.
- While it doesn't sink as fast as Fluoro, it does sink significantly faster than nylon.
The chart below shows the elongation difference comparing 6x ESP and Fluoroflex. Notice that it isn't until 2.8 lbs of tension that ESP finally catches up to the Fluoro elongation. Think of this not so much as Low stretch or No Stretch, but SLOW Stretch.
