What You Will Learn – Scott GT Series 2026

In this overview of the Scott GT Series you will learn how Scott has evolved the legendary G Series into a lighter, sportier family of rods with thinner walled blanks, redesigned hollow ferrules, and modern multi modulus layups that deliver incredible feel, stability, and accuracy. You will see how each GT model is purpose built for specific trout and technical applications, and how the craftsmanship, components, and classic G Series soul all come together in a modern performance taper.

Key Takeaways

  • How the GT Series builds on nearly 50 years of G Series legacy and design firsts.
  • What Scott has changed in blank construction, including new ultra thin wall X Core design and ARC2 fibers.
  • How redesigned hollow internal ferrules reduce weight and make multi piece rods feel like one piece.
  • Why GT rods offer exceptional feedback, tippet protection, and strike detection on the water.
  • How the new model lineup (from GT743/4 to GT985/4) covers everything from small creeks to big technical rivers.
  • Where each length and line weight shines, from tight quarter dry fly work to big water nymphing and stillwater.
  • Which premium components and finishing touches set GT rods apart in both performance and aesthetics.
  • Why anglers who love classic G Series feel will find the GT a natural, modern progression in their favorite trout rods.

Each GT rod is handcrafted in our shop in Montrose, Colorado and is hand inscribed and given an individual serial number.

Model Lineup

> GT743/4 - With this rod’s deep flexing action, touch sensitive tip, and small size, it’s perfect for short casts with dries and dry-dropper rigs in tight quarters. More accurate with higher line speed than glass, this is a great choice for people who prefer lighter quicker rods or fish in windy conditions on small waters.

> GT843/5 - So smooth and balanced you won’t believe it’s a 5-piece rod. This little gem is perfect for hike in fishing on small streams and lakes where dries and dry-dropper rigs are the norm and packability is key.

> GT844/5 - A versatile smooth 4 weight for days when mixed techniques on small to medium sized streams and lakes call for nymphs, dries, or small streamers. This 5-piece is delicate enough to enjoy the tug of a small fish but has plenty of power to handle heavier flies and the big fish you didn’t expect to eat your hopper.

> GT8103/4 - When midges or tricos are hatching bring your 7X, the 8103, and your A–game. This is hands down the finest technical dry fly fishing 3 weight we’ve ever built. Incredibly smooth with a delicate but precise tip, this rod is laser accurate and alive with feel.

> GT8104/4 - A trusted friend who has fished Scott rods for over 40 years proclaimed, ‘this is the greatest 4 weight of my life’. We’d have to agree. There’s magic here. The rod perfectly balances a sensitive tip with smooth even power. Effortless to cast and control, incredibly precise, and a joy to fish.

> GT8105/4 - This rod will handle heavier nymph rigs and let you fish the afternoon midge hatch on 7X. Endless possibilities with this ‘one rod to rule them all’. Long roll casts, precise overhead casts with long leaders, reverse curve casts. It’s a do it all rod that does it all well.

> GT8106/4 - Drift boat fishing, a big Chubby with two weighted nymphs underneath, salmon flies, streamers. When you need to serve them a big meal, this is the rod. Smooth and powerful, it excels at loop size control, long roll casts, and controlling big fish.

> GT984/4 - Perfect for technical nymphing and tricky tailwaters. The extra reach of this rod helps extend long drag free drifts with little flies for finicky fish. It turns over the longest leaders with precision and protects light tippets.

> GT985/4 - A great rod for big water nymphing, single hand spey casts, or stillwater fishing. This powerful 5 weight comes with a fighting butt and excels and long smooth casts. It’s sensitive enough for tricky fishing like chironomid hatches and has the power to huck a streamer a country mile.

GT Series

No other rods match the legacy and longevity of the Scott G Series-rods that are filled with firsts, fished the world over, and passed down through generations. We’re proud to unveil the all-new iteration of this iconic rod series-the Scott GT.

New GT rods are lighter and sportier than their predecessors yet still possess smooth progressive actions, tremendous feedback, and top notch tippet protection that have kept dedicated anglers fishing the previous three generations of these rods for almost 50 years.

GT rods feature innovations that push them to the forefront of performance while retaining the most cherished attributes of G series rods.

The first is centered around wall thickness and our X-Core design approach. GT rods are the first series to feature our newest version of X-Core design principles, producing the thinnest walled blanks we’ve ever created. We’ve incorporated new multi-modulus lay ups combined with our ARC2 multi directional fibers to increase recovery and line speed, giving the rods greater stability and accuracy.

We also redesigned the signature Scott hollow internal ferrule. The ferrules are now up to 20% lighter and flex in tandem with the blanks more than ever before.

Bringing together new thinner walls with new ferrules creates blanks with incredible transmission of feel. The most nuanced movement of a fish or detection of a strike can be felt. What isn’t felt are the ferrules connecting each section, making these 4- and 5-piece rods feel almost like they’re one piece.

We also created a new model lineup. These new length–line weight configurations are designed to showcase what we think are the best characteristics of G series rods. Most have never been offered in any G series generation.

But they wouldn’t deserve the G series badge if they were just about the latest tech. We also pushed ourselves to make these some of the most artful and soulful rods we’ve ever crafted.

GT rods feature milled aluminum reel seats with type 3 hard coat, beautiful cocobolo wood inserts, and Flor grade cork grips. They also feature titanium framed Zirconia no tangle stripping guides complimented with Snake Brand Universal snake guides.

The little touches, like measuring wraps and alignment dots, are all there too.
